Home Sweet Home with Patti Nelson

Patti Nelson is one of San Antonio’s and the Texas Hill Country’s most recognizable faces in the world of real estate. As Team Leader of Patti Nelson Luxury and one of San Antonio Portfolio Real Estate’s luxury agents, Patti has been continually honored as a top producing agent and has closed more than $350 million in luxury sales throughout her career.

As someone who specializes in finding her clients the perfect place to call home, we sat down with Patti to find out her definition of "home" and what it is about Boerne, Texas that she finds so endearing.

What is your definition of home?

Home is where my family is! We are very close. My husband Randy and I met at Southwest Airlines where he was a pilot and I was a flight attendant. We have two children, Katie and Tanner, and will soon have a new daughter-in-law Hillary. I thank God everyday for the blessing of family and enjoy every moment we get to spend together.

When did you move to Boerne and what drew you to the area?

Randy and I moved our family to Boerne in 1999. We were drawn to the area because of the small town feel, its beauty and reputable school district. Randy was also a captain for Southwest Airlines so getting closer to an airport to commute was definitely a plus!

What do you enjoy the most about living in Boerne?

It is, without question, the people! Everyone is friendly. We also enjoy the small town feel even though we are just minutes to fine dining, shopping and the San Antonio Spurs games! You can have all of the benefits of the city but go home to your backyard and feel like you live in the country.

What are some of your favorite things to do and places to go in Boerne?

I enjoy shopping at the local businesses on Main Street. It has a plethora of boutique shops, restaurants, a local brewery and, most weekends, you can enjoy live music! One of our favorite times of year is Christmas on Main Street. The shops are decorated and they have a night Christmas parade complete with a snow machine. It truly gets you into the spirit of the season! Also, you can’t forget Friday Night Lights and watching the Boerne Greyhounds or the Champion Chargers play football underneath the stadium lights!

The town has experienced significant growth. Tell us a little about that.

I feel that the same things that brought us to Boerne are bringing others to the area as well. The schools are highly rated and the sense of community is something that so many people want to be a part of. The growth is a bit overwhelming for some but I feel our town is handling it well. Real estate is booming and so is the local economy…for that, you have to be thankful!

What makes Boerne a great place to raise a family?

Once again, the sense of community and highly rated school system. People still look out for one another here. It could also be the parks, river, Boerne Lake and the beautiful new public library, which offers something for every family. It seems there is always something going on that encourages families to spend time together.

What should people know about the Boerne Real Estate market?

Real estate in Boerne is at a premium right now. It does offer a very diverse price range of homes. From the starter homes up to the million dollar homes and ranches, there is something for every lifestyle and price point!
